About Picasso Museum
The Museu Picasso in Barcelona holds one of the most extensive collections of Pablo Picasso's work, with over 4,200 pieces spanning his formative and early creative years. Housed in five interconnected medieval palaces on Carrer Montcada in the Born neighborhood, the museum's collection is particularly strong in his early works from Barcelona, his Blue Period, and includes the complete series of 58 interpretations of Velázquez's Las Meninas (1957). The museum was inaugurated in 1963, making it the first museum dedicated to Picasso's work during his lifetime. The medieval palace architecture adds a stunning backdrop to the art.
