About Sagrada Família
The Basílica de la Sagrada Família is Antoni Gaudí's magnum opus and Barcelona's most iconic landmark. Construction began in 1882 and Gaudí devoted the last 15 years of his life exclusively to it. The basilica features three monumental façades (Nativity, Passion, and Glory), 18 towers symbolizing the Apostles, Evangelists, Virgin Mary, and Jesus Christ, and a breathtaking interior where tree-like columns support a canopy of hyperboloid vaults flooded with colored light from the stained glass windows. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it attracts over 4.5 million visitors annually and is expected to be completed around 2026.
